UGA THE TURTLE

What you need:

Green and yellow felt, green and yellow embroidery floss, stuffing, white and black felt or two small beads for the eyes.

The pieces:

Green felt: cut out 4 "hourglasses" that will become the turtle's legs and 2 head shapes. Add an eye for each head shape (white and black felt or two small beads).

Yellow felt: cut out 2 shell shapes and decorate them (I simply stitched some orange felt circles).

Stuffing - 1 :

Take one green "hourglass", fold it in two and stitch down the sides with the embroidery floss to create a small pocket. Fill it with stuffing and close the pocket. Do the same for the other 3 legs.

To create the head just follow the same steps: stitch the two head shapes together leaving the neck open, stuff and close.

Putting pieces together - 1:

Take the two yellow shell shapes and start sewing them together around the greater curve. When you reach the point where the neck should be, insert the head between the two shapes and sew the three pieces together. Make sure you don't sew the head too horizontal otherwise, when your turtle is finished, its head will touch the ground.

Stuffing - 2 :

It's time to make our Uga nicely fatter: stuff generously the shell between the yellow shapes.

Putting pieces together - 2:

To complete the turtle you must cut out a felt belly. The belly shape depends on what kind of turtle you prefer: cut an oval belly if you prefer a slimmer and oblong turtle, cut a circle if you prefer it fatter.

Take the belly and start stitching it to the shell from the point where the neck is. After about 1 cm insert one leg between the belly and the shell and stitch the three pieces together.

Do the same for the other three legs.

Don't sew all the way to the end but leave a small opening through which you'll insert a small green triangle, the tail.
