MARIETTO, THE OCTOPUS

polpo1

What you need:

Light blue felt, white felt, light blue embroidery floss, stuffing.

The pieces:

Cut 4 pieces like those in the picture out of the light blue felt: they will be the head-body of our octopus.

To create the tentacles cut out two eight-points stars: one should be light blue and one white.

Head-body:

The 4 pieces must be sewn together to create a pocket. Take two pieces and stitch them together down one lateral side; take a third piece and stitch it to the second piece down the lateral side, then do the same for the fourth piece. The fourth piece must be eventually stitched to the first one.

You should get a pocket like in the second picture below.

Turn the pocket inside out and fill it with lots of stuffing: the body must be nicely fat.

Now the head-body is ready, just add a pair of eyes. ^__^

Putting head-body and tentacles together:

Take the light blue star and stitch the head-body to it.

(in the first picture below you see also the white felt star: forget it, that was a mistake of mine)

Once the head-body is sewn on the "first tentacle layer", all you have to do is sew the second layer of tentacles, the white star: stitch the white star and the light blue star together.

If you stuff every tentacle once you've sewn it, the stuffing will be easier and you'll get a better and more symmetrical result.

So this is your smart octopus! Piece of cake, isn't it?
