FLATTY, THE FLAT TURTLE

To be honest, I was inspired by my keyring, but the idea is so nice I couldn't help showing you how to create it! No need to tell you that it's really easy to make and all you need are three pieces of felt.

What you need:

Orange felt, dark and light green felt, embroidery floss, stuffing, two white felt circles and two small beads for the eyes.

The pieces:

Following the pattern below (click on the picture to see it full-size) cut out an orange felt body and two green oval shapes.

Putting pieces together:

Decorate one of the ovals to make it look like a shell: I just stitched a little light green pentagon and sew some lines with white embroidery floss.

Now make the turtle-sandwich as you see in the picture below:

Sandwich the orange body between the green ovals.

Using the white embroidery floss, start sewing the two ovals together. The orange felt will be sewn too, in correspondence of the head, the legs and the tail.

Don't sew all the way to the end, but leave a small opening through which you'll stuff the turtle. Just put some stuffing under the orange felt and some more stuffing over the orange felt.

Now all it needs is a pair of eyes: felt white circles and two small beads.

So here is Flatty, nice to meet you! ^__^
