What you need:
thick white felt, thin purple and blue felt, glue, embroidery floss and the pattern below
How to do it:
First of all cut all the shapes you need. Download the birdhouse-pattern and cut all rectangles, squares and pentagons.
(I used the thick white felt (cream white) for the birdhouse walls, while I chose some thinner white felt for ceiling and floor, that will be hidden)
Take one of the pentagons that will be the front and rear wall of your birdhouse and draw a little circle where you want the entrance hole to be (not the bullet entrance hole of course! ^__^). An adhesive tape roll can help in drawing the circle, it's the right size.
Decorate the birdhouse walls. I embroidered some vertical lines that should look like little wooden boards; I left more or less 2 cm between the lines. Drawing the "path" with a pencil may help you embroider straight lines.
You might as well embroider the entrance hole.
Once decoration is finished, walls must be put together. Alternate two pentagons and two squares, as you see in the picture below, and sew them together using white embroidery floss.
Then sew the first and fourth walls together: your birdhouse is now growing on three dimensions.
If you want your birdhouse to host lazy birds too, you might want to create a little perch.
To create the perch you need a felt rectangle: the smaller side must be as long as the perch. The thicker you want your perch, the longer must be the felt rectangle.
Now roll the rectangle to create a cylinder and fix it with some thread to keep it in shape. Then attach the perch to the birdhouse using needle and thread.
Now all you have to do is add the ceiling and the floor, as you see in the pics below. Although these parts will be hidden, this helps in making the structure more solid.
To create the roof, take the two purple rectangles and decorate them with some white embroidery floss. Then sew the two pieces together, using the same white floss.
It's time to use the glue. Put a nice layer of glue on the white ceiling, especially along borders and edges. Attach the purple roof to it and let it dry.
Do the same with the blue base.
Now your birdhouse is finally finished! Why don't you create some felt birds to put on it now?
